Hebron University signs cooperation agreement with FAO

Within the framework of the youth project entitled "Green Jobs and Sustainable Income Opportunities for Palestinian Female Male Youth in the Agribusiness and Food Sector", Hebron University signed a cooperation agreement with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). This project is organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and implemented by Hebron University with generous funding from Denmark.

The agreement was signed by Dr. Nabil Hassaneh, Acting President of the University, and from FAO, Director of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) programs in Palestine, Dr. Azzam Saleh. During the ceremony, Dr. Hassaneh emphasized on the importance of integrating the concepts of entrepreneurship and creativity in all university courses and activities, to ensure increased employment or self-employment opportunities for Hebron University graduates and students, and the Palestinian young graduates in general. Dr. Azzam Saleh, also stressed that through the various project activities, youth will be provided with the knowledge, skills and personality traits necessary to ensure creating or finding existing employment opportunities. The activities aim at improving beneficiaries’ ability to create self-employment opportunities or finding a job, through a focused curriculum designed specifically for this project.

It is worth mentioning that the agreement ensures the implementation of the second phase of the project, as the first phase was implemented over a period of 18 months through the Alumni Unit at Hebron University. Analytical results had reflected that phase 1 activities were able to help the targeted young graduates through equipping them with the needed knowledge, skills and the needed personal traits. In addition, investment opportunities in the youth entrepreneurial projects and paid internships opportunities were offered to enhance the graduates experience practically.

This activity comes in line with the alumni unit strategic goals; specifically capacity building of Hebron university graduates to ensure career development and to close the gap of skills in the Palestinian distorted job market.
