Hebron University Strengthens Scientific Collaboration with University of Milano-Bicocca’s Neuroscience Research Center

Hebron University continues to expand its global research partnerships with Dr. Mohammad Qaisieh, Chair of the Department of Laboratory Medical Sciences, completing a one-month scientific visit to the Neuroscience Research Center at the University of Milano-Bicocca.

The visit was conducted under a research grant from the National Research Council of Italy—Neuroscience Institute and focused on a project titled "Analysis of the Autophagy Pathway in an In Vivo Model of Alzheimer’s Disease."

During the visit, Dr. Qaisieh collaborated with Dr. Fabrizia Guarnieri and Dr. Edoardo Moretti on studying the effects of APOE ε4 and tau genetic mutations on autophagy and cell trafficking using animal models and neural cell transplantation. Their research aimed to deepen the understanding of neurodegenerative diseases and potential therapeutic strategies.

In addition to his research activities, Dr. Qaisieh delivered a lecture outlining key scientific achievements, the current state of research in Palestine, and opportunities for international collaboration. The Italian researchers expressed keen interest in strengthening partnerships, with plans to develop joint research projects and co-author scientific publications.
