The Dean of Hebron University College of Law and Political Science and Associate Professor of International Law, Dr. Mutaz Qafisheh, published a peer-reviewed paper entitled “Who Has the Right to Become a Palestinian Citizen? An International Law Analysis” (July 2017) in the “Yearbook of Islamic and Middle Eastern Law”, Brill, The Hague (pages 112-149).
This paper, which is a continuation of previous research by the writer over the past two decades, provides a typology of the various groups of individuals who have the right to acquire Palestinian citizenship in the countries of their current residence against the rules of international law. These individuals, residents within Palestine or refugees residing abroad, can be formally nationalized in the Palestinian citizenship law that should, the paper augurs, be adopted without delay in order to strengthen the individual rights of the Palestinians across the globe.
