Welcome to the Department of Jurisprudence and Shaia, a division of the Faculty of Sharia, Hebron University. The Department was established in 1991 to grant a bachelor degree in jurisprudence and Sharia. The Department teaches Islamic Jurisprudence in a modern way without ignoring the fundamental principles of Islam, and without prejudice to the doctrine of a particular opinion, focusing on the most convincing opinion without regard to the jurist who believed in it. The Department is based on the noble message of respect for the other opinion as proved by evidence. It is seeks to avoid extremism opinions which might lead to dangerous consequences. The department aims to strike a balance between teaching Islamic jurisprudence courses and legal materials by adopting comparative approach. Thus graduates would be empowered by strong understanding of the contemporary law and Islamic Jurisprudence, especially with regard to the personal status law. Finally, graduates of Department of Jurisprudence and Sharia would be able to work as teachers, personal status judges, leaders of mosques, and inviters to God for the good of the humanity.
