A Workshop on Human Rights at Hebron University

In cooperation with the UN office of the Higher Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and the Temporary International Presence in Hebron (TIPH), a workshop was held at Hebron University in commemoration of the International Human Rights Day.

The workshop was attended by the President of the University, vice-presidents, HU employees, the head of OHCHR in Palestine and the director of its branch in Hebron, United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the Norwegian Refugee Council, Hebron Rehabilitation Committee and the Land Research Center in addition to a number of local and international associations pertaining to human rights. The workshop aimed at providing advocates within the field of human rights with information about the legal players in the field while providing a space for coordination and gap identification. Legal services, mechanisms, and possible assistance that are provided by some associations were also explored in an attempt to face human rights' violations in the region. From its par, Hebron University’s Dr. Mo'taz Qafeesheh, professor of international law, talked about the international law and its potential applications under occupation.
