Department of
Plant Protection:
Master's Program in Plant Protection
Intensive agriculture and the excessive use of pesticides
induced many plant diseases and insect pests to develop
resistance to pesticides, which created major economic
and technical problems in the control of plant pests and
diseases. Therefore, a research program in the field of
plant protection was necessary to put forward practical
solutions and alternative measures for the control of
plant’s pests and diseases in addition to the importance
of studying local hosts-pathogen-pest interactions in
the Palestinian agricultural environment.
A well established plant research unit including greenhouses
and open fields planted with fruit trees and grapevines
in addition to vegetable plots equipped with irrigation
system to be used for conducting field research was
established. Furthermore, highly equipped research labs
have been established in the department of plant
production.
Master program in plant protection was established in 2002.
Students enrolled in this program should have a B.Sc.
degree in plant production and/or protection or any
other relevant field. Students have to finish 36-credit
hrs, including 12 credit hrs core courses, 15 credit hrs

Department of
Agricultural Natural Resources and
Sustainable Management.
Natural Agricultural Resources and
its Sustainable Management:
This Master's program was established in year 2002 in
response to the Palestinian community requirement. Since
the Agricultural Natural Resources in Palestine are very
limited, and have been exposed to misuse and to many
other factors led to severe deterioration in its
condition, in addition to the increased environmental
pollution due to excessive use of pesticides, and the use
of untreated wastewater in irrigation, all these factors
and many others cause the college of Agriculture to
establish this master's program.
The College of Agriculture at Hebron University had
established a suitable infrastructure to fulfill the
educational and research requirement for the Master
program, these include: full time academic staff, highly
equipped labs, research stations, specialized books,
periodicals and information resources, and computer and
internet facilities.
This program will concentrate on doing research on studying,
transfer technology and solving some of the problems
facing the Agricultural Natural Resources. Taking in
consideration that there are many local problems that
need research and searching for solution under the
local conditions.
The Master's program will graduate advanced trained students
who will be able to better manage projects related to
Agricultural Natural Resources especially soil, water ,
plant, and animal and to help in sustainable development
of Palestine.
Students enrolled in this program must have a B.Sc. degree
in Agricultural Natural Resources or other related
sciences and they are required to finish 36 credit
hours, 9 of which are in a specialized research topic
leading to a thesis.
