Faculty
of
AL-Shari'a
The faculty of Islamic Studies was the first faculty to be established. In its initial years, it served the entire
student population throughout the Palestinian community
and opened a window of opportunity to Israeli Arabs to
obtain a higher education.
The Faculty is composed of two departments: the Department of
Islamic Law and the Department of Fiqh –competence in
Islamic judiciary based on Islamic sources (Quran,
Hadith, etc.). Aside from the field of education,
graduates have found employment in religion-related jobs
and education. Although the Faculty has adopted a modern
teaching approach, it has maintained its connection to
tradition and Islamic culture.
